Recharge Day

View 2012 Short Outing on greynomadm's travel map.

A very restful night and a reasonably comfortable morning. I was blessed with a colourful display in the clouds over Mt Majura and walked a circuit of the showgrounds before preparing breakfast.

First order of business was to visit Aldis to restock some perishables to carry us over the next five or six days. Back at the campground I wandered about and photographed the extensive rain-water capture system installed here. They have three main storage tanks each with a capacity of 1.6 million litres. The water is used to irrigate the extensive grassed areas.

After lunch we drove out to Spence, a NorthWestern suburb of Canberra, to visit our old mate who has organised this weekend's commemorative gathering at the War Memorial. Spent a pleasant hour or two catching up on recent events.

On our return to the EPIC campground we found two other members of our Veteran group. A very pleasant chat before the temperature dropped in time with the setting sun. Time to retire to the van and a light dinner and another early night.
